chemcube is a contract research organization (CRO) for synthetic and analytical services. The company was founded in 2007 with the initial goal of developing new synthetic routes for difficult-to-obtain, complex-protected amino acids on a bulk scale. Spurred on by enthusiastic industry customers and creative collaborators, we have continuously expanded our synthetic portfolio to cover a broad range of organic chemistry and sophisticated targets. Route scouting (retrosynthesis) as well synthesis of heterocycles, polymer building blocks, active pharmaceutical ingredients are routine work at chemcube. For the manufacturing industry we also develop and produce functional substances on key figures. Selected customers commission chemcube as an external R&D department. chemcube developed its own novel compounds and building blocks for the fine chemicals market and thus making them available for a broad customer base in R&D. Particularly successful substances are scaled up and produced in bulk quantities for manufacturing processes.
Our extensive analytical methods (liquid and solid state NMR, MS, HPLC, GC, IR, UV, etc.) are the basis for the characterization of synthesized substances and for quality assurance of incoming and outgoing material. We also apply the established analytical methods when customer projects deal with questions of identification, quantification, REACH, patents or reverse engineering. Our team is known for its ability to solve successfully extraordinary and complex customer requests.
chemcube maintains its laboratories and business premises at the Biomedicine Center located on the Campus of the Ruhr-University Bochum (RUB). We have close collaborations with the RUB in research, instrumental analytics and recruiting personnel. Students and doctoral candidates can complete internships at chemcube and fill paid positions via mini-jobs or permanent positions.

Exclusive knowledge and intellectual property are valuable assets of our customers. Secrecy, confidentiality and security are therefore a matter of course for us. Our industrial projects are underpinned by CDA/NDAs. Email communication can be S-MIME signed and/or encrypted upon customer request.
